Shotgun Sam

Nobody knows exactly where or when Shotgun Sam was born, or who his parents are. The earliest record of his existence is in some classified files pertaining to a 'Monkey Boy Experiment' which took place at the Baltimore Zoo. Sam was raised by monkeys until he was about ten years old, at which point the experiment was deemed unethical, and he was quietly moved to the small town of Graystone, in hopes that he would be unnoticed there.

In a brief attempt at socialization, Sam was sent by the government to Graystone Elementary School, where he also lived. The situation was not ideal--becuase of his animalistic habits and unpredictable nature, Sam was ostracized by most of the other students. During this time, his one and only companion was Tall Jerry, who also found it difficult to make friends because of his unusual height and bad temper.

Sam was not very successful at school, and after several years of struggling with both his teachers and fellow students, he ran away, eventually taking up residence in a dilapidated boxcar at an abandoned train station on the outskirts of town. There, he also found an old twelve gauge shotgun, which he affectionately named Bess. The prolonged lack of contact with any other living thing drove Sam madder than he had ever been. Although he never shot a person, Sam's favorite pasttime was to run around town doing minor property damage and fleeing the local police. Thanks to his simian skills, he was seldom caught, and never held for very long.

After the events of Graystone: The Musical, Sam moved in with Tall Jerry, who has taken it upon himself to rehabilitate Sam into a productive member of society. Is it possible for him to succeed? Only time will tell.

Sketch of Sam
This is drawn on my infamous yellow paper. I tend to draw Sam's head shaped like an artichoke, a habit I'm trying to break.
